CHARLES.1 ROSE FARTHING, STRUCK, FLIPPED OVER,
AND THEN OVERSTRUCK

Possibly BMC 317 pm Cross pattee appears to have been struck, then flipped over and struck again on only one half of the coin.

This has resulted in the obverse having the normal legend on one half and overstruck with part of the reverse legend down the other. Similarly the reverse has the normal legend down one side and overstruck with part of the obverse legend down the other.

It is puzzling how this has occured being overstruck on only one half of the coin on both sides. Was the coin part of a strip, if so maybe there are other similar ones or was it struck singularly.
